The term street art emerged to distinguish what was becoming “public contemporary art” (frescoes, mosaics, light painting, stencils), from the original territorial form of graffiti. Inseparable from street art, the POSCA paint marker has naturally found its place as a favoured tool for street artists, won over by its ease of use and the quality of its graphic effects.
Originally, graffiti was part of hip-hop culture and consisted of 3D lettering with optical and colour effects. Whether used for social criticism or just to leave a mark, graffiti has symbolised freedom of expression since its emergence. Over the years, its frequent use has given POSCA real “street cred”. It has naturally become an indispensable tool for graffiti artists.
Historically monopolised by communities of enthusiasts often motivated by adventure and sometimes extreme experiences in urban or natural environments, customisation is a space of total freedom where anyone can express themselves and declare their affinity with their community. Quite naturally POSCA was quickly adopted by this freedom of expression community with no limits on materials.
“Fine Art” comprises a range of artistic disciplines (drawing, painting, architecture etc.) that involves demanding standards and faultless quality, whose unique works are designed to enter history as witnesses to a time. A creative instrument by its very essence, an extension of the artist’s hand, POSCA has become a Fine Arts tool in its own right.
Whether designed to reinforce a vocation or just share creative experiences, art education combines instruction with recreation, enhances our perception of the world and stimulates our curiosity. Thanks to its ease of use and the power of its results, POSCA has become a standard in the educational world.
The MIX'ART association encourages and enables students and graffiti or street artists to work together by organising urban art workshops to get young people involved in ambitious art projects that primarily revolve around citizenship.
Mandalas, tote bags, decorated pebbles, jewellery, display cases, origami…the world of Creative Leisure is a huge family of different creative communities (DIY, decoration, drawing, customisation…) A natural medium for personalisation and expression.
