The second stop in the 2013 Rip Curl Grom Search presented by POSCA will be part of the 15th consecutive GoldCoast Oceanfest surf & music festival in Croyde, North Devon on June 22-23rd! This exciting combination will allow the Surfers to battle out in two days of competition overlooked by the fully licensed ocean-side GoldCoast Arena hosting the Live Music Stage and 2 big screens showcasing the international and local musical talents of more than 20 live acts; including Bastille, Gabrielle Aplin, Xavier Rudd and Willy Mason. Upfest unveils international line up for 2013
Bristol: 25th - 27th of May 2013
Europe’s largest urban art festival Upfest, crafted by POSCA has announced the impressive international line up for its sixth year and has unveiled plans to take over the cultural home of UK graffiti, Bristol. The event takes place over May Bank holiday weekend, 25th – 27th May 2013. This year Upfest will attract over 250 of the most groundbreaking graffiti artists the world has to offer. Descending onto Southville, Bristol they will consume over two miles of the city to paint live across the weekend and create over 30,000 square foot of artwork. A selection of the biggest names in international graffiti culture will be taking to the streets of Bristol from a total of 50 countries. The international line up includes artists such as DALeast (China), Faith47 (South Africa), C215 (France), Peeta (Italy) as well as Bristol natives Turroe and Inkie. Also on the international bill are Goin (France). Eoin (Ireland), JBAK (Germany). Remo (USA), Neuzz (Mexico), Peacetu (Brazil) and Narcelio Grud (Brazil). The festival will also feature an artist from Bristol’s twinned city Oporto, Sphiza is a Portuguese female artist whose work is focused on human faces, exploring and approaching different feelings, cultures and values through people’s expressions. Upfest will also showcase over 450 new artworks available for sale from participating artists. Visitors will have the chance to browse beautiful original canvases with all sales contributing to keeping the festival free as well supporting the artists involved. These pieces of very affordable art, ranging from £25 to £500 means there is something to suit everyone. Artists will paint to a soundtrack of fantastic live music of Funk, Soul, Reggae and old school hip hop from 40 street buskers as well as music from Invader FM, King Kong Sound System, Tribe Steppaz Sound System, Woman presents & Tobacco Factory music. 2013 will be its biggest yet with brand new festival sponsor POSCA, and festival organisers have revealed that a wide programme of events will entertain visitors across the bank holiday weekend. Graffiti, Street and Illustration artists will take over car parks, a skate park, a theatre, beer gardens and streets to showcase the very best in British and International urban art. On top of this legendary Bristol based graffiti writer Turroe has created the design for this year’s festival and will curate one of the main venues. Upfest founder Stephen Hayles explains; “Now in its 6th year, we’re lucky to have some amazing names in the urban art world confirmed from afar afield as China and South Africa. We’re looking for the very best in urban artists to paint over the weekend and hope we’ll get a record number of artists painting thanks to our new sponsors POSCA, who are also creating awards for the talents attending to recognise the amazing talents of the artists who visit the festival.” Upfest will be based at the Tobacco Factory and throughout North Street, Southville, Bristol on Saturday 25th May through to Monday 27th May and will be running between the hours of 11am-8pm. The festival is FREE to attend. Once again Upfest will help raise money for and awareness of The National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACOA) who offer a confidential phone line for children effected by alcoholism with the family unit. |

Europe’s largest Street Art Festival 25th – 27th May
Hundreds of urban artists will descend on Bedminster, Bristol for Upfest 2013. This FREE bank holiday festival invites you to see world class painters and illustrators at work painting 20,000sqft of surfaces including a NY subway train, alongside music stages, pop up cafes and street parties from Saturday 25th to Monday 27th May 2013. Upfest 2013 returns with more artists, venues and a brand new festival sponsor, POSCA. Graffiti, street and illustration artists will take over car parks, a skate park, a subway train, a theatre, beer gardens and streets, alongside music, pop up cafes and stages awash with hip hop, RnB and beatbox acts. Legendary Bristol based graffiti writer Turroe has created the design for this year’s festival and will curate one of the main venues, painting alongside an amazing spectrum of artists from numerous genres. Bristol’s iconic Tobacco Factory will host many activities including a live illustration battle in the Cafe Bar, headline music stage in the garden, while the outside area will be packed full of artists creating modern masterpieces. Children and adults will also be able to test their abilities with a spray can by joining a graffiti workshop throughout the weekend. Upfest attracts visitors from all over the world to witness the most groundbreaking artists create artwork in Bedminster, while raising funds for the National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACOA).
